A guided heart-coherence meditation with Nienke van Bezooijen, certified HeartMath™ trainer and coach. Customised for The Indigo Elephant audience.

The Indigo Heart Activation — Guided Meditation

This is the guided meditation at the centre of The Indigo Heart Activation — the practice we return to weekly, and the field we build every strategic conversation from.

It is offered here as a full recording, so you can move into heart coherence in your own time — before a difficult conversation, at the start of a week, or whenever the noise of the day has crowded out the deeper signal you know is there.

About this meditation

This guided meditation is rooted in the heart meditation techniques of the HeartMath Institute™. The Indigo Heart Activation is not a HeartMath™-provided meditation — it is a customised meditation created especially for The Indigo Elephant audience.

Nienke van Bezooijen, who gave voice to this recording, is a certified HeartMath™ trainer and coach.

Heart-focused breathing, as used in the practice, calms your nervous system so that you can be receptive to what your neutral heart — and the energetic field around us all — wants you to know.

The 8-step practice

1. Open your mind to let go of all mental occupations. Let your thoughts go and focus your attention on the area around your heart.

2. Start breathing a bit deeper and slower than usual, with an even inhale and exhale.

3. Add into your breathing a regenerative feeling or frequencies of your choice.

4. When you feel you have filled your own container with the feeling or frequencies, go to the centre of your heart — the neutral spot — and start radiating this out clockwise: your feeling or frequency to the people you know, then to the people you don't know, and to those around the globe who can benefit from your frequencies.

5. When you reach out over the world, you can extend to the energy field around the world.

6. When you feel ready, start exchanging with the energy fields; you are the broadcaster, they are the receiver, and vice versa.

7. When you feel ready, pause a moment and see if the fields, the world, and your heart have any message for you. A word, a phrase that you can use for the upcoming week.

8. Anchor what you hear by writing down what you hear, and let that be your guide for the week.

Your heart is neutral. It has no mental opinion. It can be warm and still at the same time.

Why the Indigo Elephant?

The elephant has long symbolised earthly stability, sovereignty, memory, and indestructible strength. Indigo adds dimensions of cosmic alignment, spiritual vision, and the deep undercurrent.

This is what the indigo elephant represents energetically and symbolically: the connection between heaven and earth.

The elephant is grounded, carries massive feet, and is deeply connected to the earth — the material world. Yet, by imbuing it with the colour indigo, that dense, earthly vessel is illuminated by the highest spiritual frequency. It represents the capacity to fully embody spiritual wisdom.

This is not airy-fairy spirituality that floats away from reality, but a deep, robust wisdom that stands firmly with both feet in the mud.

While smaller creatures in nature can panic over details, the elephant's stature surveys the broader horizon.

The indigo elephant does not react to daily illusions or superficial noise but tunes into the deeper cycles of the whole — as a conductor. It leads from total inner stillness. That is the portal through the heart.

How to use this meditation

As a weekly practice — return to this recording once a week, so coherence becomes a rhythm rather than a one-off intervention. Many use it to open the working week.

Before consequential conversations — a boardroom meeting, a difficult conversation, a strategic decision. The neutral, coherent field of the heart is a different starting state than the reactive, filtered state most of us default into.

When the noise has taken over — return here when your day has fragmented and you need a few minutes to gather yourself back into presence.

As a team practice — many leadership teams open Monday meetings with a heart coherence practice. This recording can serve that purpose for your team, or as the starting point for building your own rhythm.

Frequently Asked

Do I need any experience with meditation to use this?+

No previous meditation experience is required. Nienke guides you through each of the eight steps at a pace that welcomes first-time practitioners. If you have an existing practice, this meditation is a coherent companion attuned to a specific frequency — the field The Indigo Elephant works from.

What is heart coherence, and why does it matter?+

Heart coherence is a measurable physiological state in which heart, brain, and nervous system move in a synchronised rhythm. Thirty-five years of research at the HeartMath™ Institute has documented what coherence does: it reduces stress, improves decision-making, and creates a field that other people can feel. Coherence is trainable — and contagious.

Is this a HeartMath™-provided meditation?+

No. This is a customised meditation created especially for The Indigo Elephant audience, rooted in the heart meditation techniques of the HeartMath™ Institute. Nienke van Bezooijen, who gives voice to the recording, is a certified HeartMath™ trainer and coach.

Should I listen with headphones?+

Headphones deepen the experience for most people, but they are not required. What matters more is that you can settle into a receptive state — whichever setup helps you do that is the right setup.

Can I use this with my leadership team?+

Yes. Many leadership teams open Monday meetings with a heart coherence practice. This recording can serve as the starting point for your team's own rhythm. If you would like to explore embedding coherence work into your organisation's actual architecture, the Organisational Architecture Assessment or a conversation with us are the natural next steps.

What does it mean to 'write down what you hear' in step 8?+

In the final step, after the exchange with the energy fields settles, a word or short phrase often surfaces. It may feel like a message, a nudge, or a quiet knowing. Writing it down — even a single word — anchors the coherent state into the week ahead. It becomes a small compass. Do not overthink it. Trust what came.

The Indigo Elephant is a triangle of founders working with CEOs and leadership teams to develop the sensing capacity the meaning economy asks for. The Indigo Heart Activation is one of the practices we return to weekly — and one of the doors into deeper work.

Imagine your business becomes a legacy for humanity.
