FOR BOARDS SHAPING THE NEXT DECADE

The Full Spectrum Board Scan

The independent reading of your board — above the waterline and beneath it.

Your board is the central ripple of your organisation. When that ripple is coherent, the organisation moves in synchronised order. When it is not, execution quietly drifts away from strategy — quarter after quarter, without anyone able to name exactly why.

The Full Spectrum Board Scan reads what governance audits cannot reach: the systemic coherence of your board, the fidelity of the signal it sends, and the quality of what returns from the floor.

Why traditional board audits reach only half the truth.

Every board audit on the market today does one thing well: it interviews. Board members answer structured questions. Governance frameworks are checked. Self-assessments are collated. The findings are written up.

What none of them can reach is what happens beneath the surface — where the actual determinants of board effectiveness live.

The board typically receives the most filtered view of reality in the organisation, and yet holds responsibility for the highest-stake decisions. Feedback from the floor has passed through multiple layers, each with its own agenda, filter and loyalty. Strategy sent from the board reaches the ground in a form that resembles whisper-down-the-line — with a fraction of what was originally intended actually arriving.

Underneath that, a systemic layer operates that no interview will ever surface: unprocessed trauma from previous mergers, unclosed departures whose energetic seats remain occupied, founder shadows still shaping decisions long after the founders left, karmic patterns between board members that no CV explains.

These are the forces that quietly determine whether your board's strategy will actually land. And they are invisible to every classical instrument.

FIVE PARAMETERS

What the Board Effectiveness Scan measures.

The Scan reads five parameters that together describe the true effectiveness of your board — as a coherent source, as a transmitter of signal, and as an amplifier or dampener of the organisation it leads.

The Board Signature — your five parameters plotted as one image.

01

Coherence

What we measure
The degree to which the board functions as a coherent source of energy — and whether the signal it sends allows the organisation to move in aligned order.
Why it matters
An incoherent board sends a confusing signal. Silos form. Harmony between departments erodes. Execution misses strategy systematically, and no one can point to a single cause — because coherence lives in a layer that dashboards cannot capture. This is the most underestimated parameter of board effectiveness, and it is where the Scan starts.
What we read
The quality of synchronicity between board members, the role of the chair as cadence-setter, and the degree to which the board speaks with one voice or as a collection of voices.

02

Resonance

What we measure
The degree to which the organisation actually resonates with its stated purpose — whether that purpose is connected to every meaningful decision, or lives only on the wall.
Why it matters
What is done purpose-fully carries an invisible force. What is done without purpose-connection produces execution-without-soul. This parameter is directly linked to absenteeism, retention, and the hidden cost of missing meaning — costs that rarely appear in the board pack but are among the largest drains on long-term performance.
What we read
How purpose manifests across the layers, from board conversation to daily decisions, from hiring to product development. And how many employees feel they contribute to something larger than themselves.

03

Alignment

What we measure
The degree to which the strategy the board sets arrives on the ground as the same signal — and the degree to which feedback from the ground returns to the board undistorted.
Why it matters
This is the ultimate board effectiveness parameter. When the signal-to-noise ratio between board and terrain drops below a threshold, every strategic investment becomes under-effective. Boards approve decisions that never actually get executed — but neither the board nor the CEO knows precisely where the loss occurs.
What we read
Where in the transmission — board → CEO → leadership team → management → floor — distortion enters. Which layers filter, which amplify, which carry quiet sabotage. And the reverse: how feedback returns, and how much of it reaches the board without political colouring.

04

Resilience

What we measure
The internal capacity of the organisation to absorb setbacks — failed acquisitions, difficult integrations, departing key figures, lost major contracts — without accumulating structural weight.
Why it matters
An organisation without self-healing capacity accumulates systemic trauma. Every unfinished loss occupies an energetic seat, causing new hires to systematically fall into the same patterns. Resilience determines whether the organisation is in expansive or extractive vibration — growing or shrinking at soul level, regardless of what the numbers show.
What we read
The degree to which systemic hygiene is built in, how loss is processed, and whether the undercurrent stays clear or becomes saturated with unfinished energies.

05

Reinvention capacity

What we measure
The degree to which the organisation can reinvent itself for what is coming — whether it is future-proof, and whether it can renew itself in time as the economic context shifts.
Why it matters
The Nokias and Kodaks of the world did not fall because of the numbers. They fell because they did not evolve as a living system alongside their context. This parameter also reads contextual resonance: does the organisation stand in connection with market, sector and economic fields — or has it closed in on itself?
What we read
The openness of the organisation to the outside, the willingness to revise assumptions, and the capacity to anticipate rather than react. This is the parameter that confirms — or challenges — whether the organisation is legacy-worthy over the longer time horizon.

How the Scan is different.

Traditional governance consulting bases itself almost entirely on interviews and structured assessments — a surface reading of a surface layer. That produces useful information, but by definition misses everything that happens beneath the waterline.

Above the waterline

Structured interviews across levels

We speak with board members, the CEO, senior leadership and representative voices from the ground — to hear what is said at each level about strategy, execution and collaboration.

Beneath the waterline

Systemic reading

We read the energetic and systemic layer of the organisation: what trauma is still active, which karmic lines run through, which founder shadows still exert influence, where the undercurrent is saturated or contaminated.

By closing the loop between both layers, we deliver a nuanced picture: why certain board decisions do not flow through, where in the organisation resistance or leakage lives, and what is systemically required to close the execution gap.

What you receive.

A written Board Effectiveness Report

The reading of all five parameters, mapped to your organisation. Each parameter includes what we found, what it means, and what shifts if you address it.

A Board Signature visualisation

The five parameters plotted as your organisation's unique signature. A single image that shows where you are strong, where you are amplifying, and where you are dampening.

A live delivery session with the board

Two hours in which we walk through the findings with your board members together, hold the conversations that only emerge when the reading is shared collectively, and support the board in choosing the first shift.

A separate 90-minute conversation with the CEO

To work through the board–CEO alignment findings and translate them into the practical shifts that follow.

A 6-month re-scan option

For boards that want to measure movement after they have acted on the initial findings.

Who this is for.

Boards, board chairs and CEOs who recognise one or more of the following:

  • Strategy is repeatedly approved but rarely lands as intended.
  • Board conversations produce clarity in the room and confusion outside it.
  • Board–CEO alignment feels correct on the surface but strained underneath.
  • The organisation is approaching a paradigm-scale decision — transformation, succession, acquisition, purpose repositioning — where the cost of misalignment is highest.
  • The board suspects it is a dampener rather than an amplifier of the CEO's transformation ambition, and wants to see whether that suspicion is accurate.

The Board Effectiveness Scan is not designed for boards looking to tick a governance-audit box. It is designed for boards ready to see themselves as the central ripple they actually are — and to work with what the reading reveals.

How the process unfolds.

  1. Week 0

    Alignment call

A 60-minute conversation with the board chair and CEO to align on scope, confidentiality, and the strategic questions the Scan should hold in mind.

  2. Week 1–2

    Interviews

Confidential 1-on-1 interviews with all board members, the CEO, and 6–8 representative voices from senior leadership and the ground.

  3. Week 2–3

    Systemic reading

In parallel, we conduct the systemic scan on the organisation — reading the layers that interviews cannot reach.

  4. Week 4

    Synthesis and report

We synthesise both layers into the Board Effectiveness Report and the Board Signature visualisation.

  5. Week 5

    Delivery to the board

A live two-hour session with the board. A separate 90-minute session with the CEO in the same week.

  6. Month 6

    Optional re-scan

For boards that want to measure the movement.

Total elapsed time: five weeks from kick-off to delivery. Optional six-month follow-up.

Investment

The Board Effectiveness Scan is a bespoke engagement. Investment is calibrated to organisation scale, board complexity, and the strategic weight of the questions the Scan is asked to hold. Reach out for a scoped proposal.

The invitation.

If your board oversees an organisation navigating the shift into the meaning economy — and you sense that the coherence, alignment or resilience of the board itself may be shaping the outcome more than anyone is saying out loud — this is the instrument to make that visible.

Board effectiveness is not a soft parameter. It is the substrate that determines whether every strategic decision the board makes actually lands.

Frequently asked questions

No. Governance audits check structure, process and compliance. The Board Effectiveness Scan™ reads the coherence, resonance, alignment, resilience and reinvention capacity of your board as a living system. They are complementary — but they measure different things.

Absolute. What is read remains between the Scan team and the board. We do not name individuals in the systemic findings; we describe patterns and dynamics. What the board chooses to share internally is the board's decision.

No. The findings are delivered in board language: what is working, what is not, where the risk lives, and what shifts if you address it. The methodology behind the reading stays in the background unless the board asks.

It often does. That is precisely why the Scan is done independently. What emerges is what emerges. Our role is to name it accurately, hold it with care, and support the board in the conversation that follows.

Yes. In fact, this is when the Board Effectiveness Scan™ is most valuable. Reading the board's coherence, alignment and resilience before a paradigm-scale decision is the closest thing to strategic due diligence on the organ that is about to make it.
